Being customers’ first choice creates sustained growth for Tinas Hjem

Tinas Hjem is an online shop selling arts and crafts and Danish designer clothes for women, working mainly with products made by small but unique manufacturers. Google AdWords has been the shop’s advertising channel of choice, generating visibility, traffic and, above all, sales, since it first opened in 2009. Co-owner Michael Klingenberg says the reason he uses Google is because he gets great results: “We find we get 25–30% of our customers from AdWords, 50% via organic searches and the other 25% already know us. So 75% of our sales actually come via Google.” By using AdWords, the business can control how visible it is day by day. “We’ve varied our budget up and down. Each time we put our budget up, we see it has a clear effect on conversions,” says Klingenberg, stressing how important it is to have a tool which generates lasting growth. “Google helped us grow our sales 20–40% year on year. We increased our sales by 35% in 2014 alone,” he says, before concluding: “With Google, I’m more certain about my sales growth and we have more time to concentrate on the rest of the business.”
