Joars Korpsservice | Sells musical instruments and equipment

Music firm reaches out to younger generations

Based in Mo i Rana, Joars Korpsservice is a small family firm that sells musical instruments and equipment. Joars has been around since 1987, but only took a step into the era of technology a year ago when it opened its online shop.

At the same time, the firm also began using Google AdWords – and CEO Lars Petter Storfjord couldn’t be more satisfied with the tool, commenting: “We have marketed the company in a new way and met a new audience.” Lars believes that it’s essential to successfully build a brand online in order to reach out to younger generations – the customers of the future. “Young people go to the Internet when they need something most of the time,” he says.

It is particularly important to think ahead as this is an industry currently down on its luck, according to the CEO: “In 2013 many companies in our sector saw turnover fall by between 20–50 %.” But Joars managed to keep his stable. “Thanks to AdWords and digital marketing, we increased our turnover by nearly 20 % in 2014, even though our competitors are struggling.”
