Online book seller enjoys more page views

Jostein Haugen didn’t know what the future held when he opened his small book shop in Volda in 1929. Today the company is one of Norway’s biggest players in online book sales, and it uses Google AdWords to attract customers. Adaptability and a willingness to try innovative new things are the secrets to the company’s success. As time’s gone on, it’s become necessary to try out new sales techniques and channels and the company’s flexible approach makes Google’s products the perfect fit.

Anders Kalvatn, Head of Google Activities at the company, explains: “To some extent, your imagination is your limitation when it comes to AdWords. There are so many opportunities, and you can make use of them on your own terms.” He emphasises that, for a bookshop, AdWords has another major advantage – they can profile products that might otherwise be difficult to sell: “The big booksellers focus on best-sellers. With Google you can also profile less well-known books. You can reach out to people interested in niche products.”
