Farmdrop | Online farmer’s market offering fresh seasonal food direct from local producers

Online farmer’s market grows through trust and collaboration

Rapidly growing Farmdrop is the UK’s first “click-to-harvest” farmer’s market. The idea is to make it as easy as possible for people to buy fresh food from their local producers. Customers can browse Farmdrop’s wide selection of local produce, place an order, and the relevant supplier will harvest and prepare the goods for pick-up or delivery. From the beginning, Google Apps for Work helped reduce the financial challenges that came with building a high-growth company with a vision shared by food producers and consumers alike. Inexpensive email and collaboration tools equipped the Farmdrop team for work in just a few hours. A small thing, like having @farmdrop.co.uk email addresses, helped the day-old company feel like a real business and built trust. “Google enabled us to be connected as a team and to work together in total collaboration from the word go,” says Ben Pugh, Farmdrop’s CEO. As Farmdrop has grown, Google Drive has enabled transparency throughout the company through the sharing of business strategy documents and product roadmaps with detailed timelines. Google Apps for Work also helps with flexible working. On any given day, a handful of people work in the office and others from home, while the rest are out and about – on a farm meeting fishermen and bakers, for instance. Apps for Work connects Farmdrop’s people no matter where they are or what device they’re using.
