Riding the surfing popularity wave in South Wales

Hugh Murray is the owner of Porthcawl, a popular Surf School in South Wales. He has been using Google AdWords to reach out to new and experienced surfers for the past ten years and to expand his business. “AdWords is a really effective way for me to attract surfers who are new to this area, as well as members of the local community who’ve never climbed on a surfboard before,” says Hugh. Seasoned surfers can also take advantage of the surf report Hugh provides, which gets an impressive 1,000 hits per day. Although long-time surfers are catered for extensively online, it is harder for people who are keen to learn how to surf to know where to start. This is where AdWords works particularly well. “People who know nothing about surfing start with Google,” says Hugh, “which means if they’re in the Porthcawl area, they have a great chance of finding me and getting in touch.”
