History is just a click away for 210,000 subscribers
What if we could make history more accessible by telling stories? Benjamin Brillaud’s channel, Nota Bene, offers fresh and entertaining content about specific historical topics, from kings’ bathing habits, to medical advances and birthdays in the Middle Ages.
While looking for work in 2014, Benjamin decided to combine his two passions: audio-visual production and history. Barely a year later and he is sharing the fruits of his labour with a community of almost 200,000 subscribers on YouTube.
Benjamin never dreamt of such success when he first started out on YouTube, yet he is currently publishing one to two videos a week and reaches approximately one million views per month. “YouTube really accelerates the whole process, especially in terms of visibility. It has enabled me to meet lots of people and develop more projects,” he explains. Through the platform, his success has crossed the boundaries of the web in the sense that he also organises meetings with subscribers at historical French sites. And he doesn’t intend to stop there – to convey his passion for history far and wide, he has also developed initiatives with schools and multimedia libraries.
Today, Benjamin is increasing his connections with cultural institutions and has plans to start his own production agency.
