Scientific videos taking off on YouTube
Inspired by its Anglo-Saxon counterparts, Veritasium and Vsauce, E-Penser (E-Think) is the first YouTube channel to explain scientific phenomena simply and elegantly – a concept praised by the French press in February 2015.
With an enthusiasm for physical sciences, Bruce Benamran has become an expert in the field. The content of his episodes is extremely detailed – evidently, the fruit of ample, in-depth research. Testament to this is the fact that some school teachers are using E-Penser in their lessons. “I aim to give my audience an informed opinion in every episode,” he explains. Having been featured by a fellow YouTuber, Antoine Daniel, in April 2014, Bruce now has almost 550,000 subscribers and 33,000,000 views.
Today, he wants to make E-Penser his primary business. With a book that sold out within three days of being launched at the end of 2015 (“Prenez le temps d’e-penser” – “Take Time to E-Think”), a registered trademark and a project for an English channel underway, Bruce has a lot to be proud of. “I want my channel to go from strength to strength. When it comes to developing my more ambitious projects, I primarily use YouTube Space, made available by Google,” he explains. “YouTube has brought my project to life and makes it universally accessible. It’s a real ecosystem of opportunities.”
His latest success sees him supporting Alexandre Astier on stage during the European Exoconference tour. Bruce is undoubtedly the mastermind behind an educational, cultural project with a promising future.
