Inspired by her love of weddings, Seyi Ayinla created a website to give Nigerian couples in the UK and Nigeria the inspiration they need to plan the perfect wedding day. Alongside tips and articles, LoveweddingsNG features an extensive business directory, which helps couples connect with wedding suppliers such as fabric makers, MCs, caterers, florists and more. Not long after launching LoveweddingsNG, Seyi wanted to find ways of increasing engagement on the site. A friend directed her towards Google’s Digital Garage, where she booked a one-to-one session with a Google Expert. “I made changes to the layout of my website. They were so simple, but they made a great impact,” says Seyi. Through Digital Garage, Seyi was also introduced to tools like Google Trends, which helped her see what people worldwide were searching for in relation to weddings, and Google Analytics, which gave her key insights into how to improve the performance of her site. “The Digital Garage did not just help me; it helped a lot of businesses that I work with,” says Seyi. “It’s changed the way I see my website. It’s gone from being a hobby into a full-fledged business.”
