Hippo Tours gallops ahead

Hippo Tours’ Owners Mr and Mrs Riisom offer horse-riding trips around the world to customers in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. With the support of Google, the couple has managed to get a great business up and running. They use Google Search to research potential destinations before setting out and testing local partners, to ensure that the quality is all that it should be.

The couple always wanted to be a niche agency that focuses on online sales. They use both Google Analytics and AdWords to improve their website and attract Scandinavian customers.

Tom Riisom explains: “We optimise our AdWords account all the time. Over the years I’ve cut down on advertising offline in newspapers and magazines, as well as online banner advertising. But this hasn’t reduced demand.” And Tom credits that to AdWords: “It’s a really great tool for our business. It makes it easy to succeed online. We never wanted to be traditional. We wanted to be an Internet-based travel agency.”

In total the couple now offer trips to 50 destinations, including Namibia, Argentina, South Africa, the Azores and Lapland.
