PsicoActiva achieves tenfold increase in income
In 1998, Álex and Marta Alarcón created PsicoActiva, a small website that publishes articles on psychology. Thanks to Google AdSense, what began as a simple hobby has grown and converted into a true business. PsicoActiva is now one of the top psychology websites in terms of visitors in Spain and Latin America, and its income has grown tenfold. In fact, 70% of the site’s income comes from Google advertising. As a result, Alex and Marta have been able to cut their work hours and dedicate more time to the site and their family. “It’s allowed a substantial improvement in our work and family life,” Álex said. He and Marta attribute a large portion of the site’s success to Google: “Google’s free resources are incredible. Analytics helps us to organise and prioritise our content, and AdSense has given us economic independence.” Álex believes that Google levels the playing field for large and small businesses like his. “Although we’re small, with Google we can compete in the same class as the largest companies. If we didn’t have Google’s services, PsicoActiva would still be just a hobby,” he says.
