Nobis Printen | Traditional handicraft bakery

Nobis Printen hires new employees and boosts sales by revamping its online offer

Based in Aachen, Nobis Printen is a family-run handicraft bakery that has been making traditional Aachener printen biscuits to the same recipe for more than 150 years. With 40 locations across the city, the bakery has become known as the place to go for a wide range of handmade German sweets and treats for customers both locally and internationally.

“We’ve had a website and online shop for a while, but these were outdated and not really performing to their full potential,” says Marketing and Purchasing Manager, Heiner Nobis. “So, we started looking for support to bring these up to a modern standard.” Hearing about Google Zukunftswerkstatt through a family friend, Heiner decided to attend a two-day workshop in Berlin to get much-needed advice and support to revamp the company’s online offering. “That course really kick-started everything,” says Heiner. “It showed us the importance of having a responsive online shop and the benefits of SEO.” During the workshop Heiner learned how to use Google Analytics to track online orders and identify at which stage they were being cancelled. This created an opportunity for him to get in touch with customers and offer support.

The course also encouraged the company to invest more time in SEO, helping to boost its position in Google Search rankings. Following the website revamp based on Google’s advice, Nobis Printen received 15% more orders and saw a 24% increase in sales compared to the previous year. This revenue boost enabled the bakery to hire three new employees. “The workshop gave us the boost to improve our website. It was so useful. It really opened our eyes!”
