Kwalito | An application that scans your food

Kwalito goes global after just eight months

Deciphering food labels can be a real headache. That’s why Pierre Killy and Aleksandra Mandic Killy decided to create Kwalito. The app’s aim is simple – after creating a profile based on the food they want to eat or avoid, the user can scan barcodes on food items with their smartphone. In just a few seconds, the app will tell the user whether the food is right for them, making it a great way to monitor your dietary health and make your life a little easier.

During their week at Google Launchpad in May 2015, Pierre and Aleksandra talked with experts about how to enhance user experience. In November 2015, they released a brand new version of Kwalito following a Sprint Design workshop co-organised by Google. “It’s so inspiring to feel like we’re not alone on this adventure,” explains Pierre. Eight months after its launch, the application is to be launched in the UK, followed by the USA, Germany and Italy. With fundraising already underway, Kwalito has captured public imagination and is sure to be making waves for some time to come.

Google Launchpad was there to offer practical advice and assistance from day one.
