While DVD and Blu-Ray sales may be declining, Digital Studio & DVD is on the rise
Digital Studio & DVD is a post-production and authoring company based in Rome that has learnt to keep up with the times. By doing so it has dodged the bullet faced by video technology’s volatile landscape in recent years. “We supply files for e-markets. Today, we’re the only ones in Italy to provide this service, which includes authoring,” says Owner Alex Pont. Digital Studio & DVD will also be involved in uploading all of Eduardo De Filippo’s works on DVD to YouTube, the distribution of theatrical performances, and the use of Content ID – a Google system that protects copyright ownership on YouTube by identifying unlawful uses and allowing holders to monetise content or access other options. In addition, DS & DVD is shooting a video for a medical encyclopaedia that will be hosted by YouTube and which will create two additional jobs this year. “Thanks to Google, I was able to absorb the impact of the decline in demand for DVDs and Blu-Ray. Now I’m very optimistic for 2015. Our relationship with Google has given me much more room for creativity,” concludes Ponti.
