Success of camera zoom app inspires new app for smartwatches
Camera Zoom FX, the first app by developer Androidslide, was inspired by Founder and now CEO Alex Drizen’s discovery that there was limited digital zoom capability on Android cameras back in 2009. He created the app in 24 hours and released it a week later. On the day of release, Camera Zoom FX was downloaded 400 times. Now, the paid version of the Camera Zoom FX app has been "downloaded 2 million times and the free version has been downloaded 5 million times,” says Alex. Today, Camera Zoom FX is still one of the top paid apps on Google Play. Yet Androidslide’s new app, Watchmaker, created to capitalise on the exploding smartwatch market, may well be overtaking it. The success of Alex’s apps for Android is one of the reasons, he says, “I build my apps on Android first as its open source platform is great and you can build up a community of beta-testers, receiving feedback directly through the developer console. It helps us make the highest quality apps.”
