Seintinelles swells its ranks with effective online recruitment
In a bid to fight cancer, a former patient and a researcher joined forces to create Seintinelles. The association brings together 10,000 women who are willing to respond to research studies within hours, a task which previously took several months. The digital world is a driving force behind the association’s recruitment process. With support from Google Ad Grants and equipped with Google Apps accounts for the association, Seintinelles has succeeded in mobilising a growing female community online, tripling the number of volunteers in just 18 months. “We’ve created a virtuous circle. The more Seintinelles there are, the more the platform will interest researchers and the more studies there will be … so research will advance that much faster,” explains Lauriane, a full-time member of the association. Guillemette Jacob, Fabien Reyal and Lauriane Bassoleil, who manage the association, would like to enrol 50,000 Seintinelles over the next three years and hope to extend the community to men as well. At the same time, they are working on a mobile app for big medical data to promote the exponential growth of the data collection.
