Fitwell sees future in omnipresent digital fitness coaching with Android
“Most people actually end up gaining weight after traditional dieting.” This was the starting point for the founders of Fitwell. The fitness AI startup utilizes sports science and game mechanics to provide time-starved urbanites with contextual fitness and nutrition coaching, through its mobile app and bot. Having the Android app from early stages, Fitwell has been taking firm steps toward creating the globally preferred digital coach since 2014. In the first half of 2017, the app reached 1.2 million users from 152 countries.
The developer team took great advantage of Android offers right from the beginning: Google Development Support Design Library tools to cut development time by 30%; stage rollout, alpha and beta groups to test new versions before launch; Google Analytics and Firebase to track which features users enjoy the most. Furthermore the startup utilizes other Google opportunities in its unique way. Users can connect the mobile app to their TVs via Chromecast and do personalised HD video workouts on bigger screens. Thanks to Awareness API, geolocation data and synchronization with Google Calendar guidance is contextualized based on the users’ daily lives. Google Home and Assistant platforms play a crucial role in offering a voice activated bot for a real coach-like experience at home or any setting.
Having reached impressive figures and constantly enhancing the omnipresent digital experience, Fitwell thinks the ultimate coach is yet to come and sees Google as an essential strategic partner in creating it.
Our vision is to become the best coach at scale through smart phones, homes and cars; acting as a smart companion that offers contextual guidance & motivation. Android, together with other Google platforms, is playing a key part in turning our vision into reality.
