Children for Tomorrow partners with Google to expand support for child refugees

The non-profit organisation Children for Tomorrow, which was established in Hamburg in 1998, is dedicated to supporting traumatised refugee children on their way back to normality. Its one permanent employee and 11 committee members coordinate 13 doctors and therapists in total, with most of the children coming from war zones. “The success of our work isn’t visible, which of course makes fundraising difficult,” explains Stephanie Hermes, Managing Director at Children of Tomorrow. “But then, fortunately, we came across Google.” As a small organisation with limited resources, Children for Tomorrow urgently needed help with its search engine marketing, event planning and online media. “We were already using Gmail, Google Hangouts and Google Maps, but that was just the tip of the iceberg,” continues Hermes. “Today, thanks to Google Grants, we can place ads for free. And as part of GooglersGive, Google employees help us plan and coordinate events. Without Google, our work would be a lot more difficult.” Now, the charity wants to work with Google to optimise its social media presence and create a film featuring the refugees themselves. Hermes concludes, “We’ve already spoken to Google and are confident that we can successfully tackle this together too.”
