Energy drink off to a flying start thanks to online advertising
Matcha is a Japanese green tea used as a dietary supplement. Matchaworld, a Swiss company, uses it as the basis of an energy drink called Matcha Magic, which it initially sold via multi-level marketing. But this approach was only moderately successful, and when Michèle Pauli Freudenreich founded Matchakampagne GmbH, she realised that an online shop was the most promising option. The drink was made in Germany and became a bestselling product in Japan. Michèle used Google AdWords right from the start. Sales took off quickly and have continued to grow ever since the company was founded in the spring of 2013. The Swiss company manages the European websites, the advertising budget is used mainly for AdWords, and it’s been a success. “Most of our new customers find us via AdWords,” says Michèle. “We’re extremely pleased about the quality of service we get from Google, and their staff are knowledgeable, creative and friendly.”
